The fact is, no optical disc drive is resistant to the force of gravity when turned on its side. So I'm wondering what people expected when they have their 360's vertical. "Z'OMG! TEH SCRATCHz0rz!" It's elementary physics. However, I will say that it is Microsoft's fault for advertising it standing vertical. In fact, I've yet to see one ad where the 360 is horizontal. I guess people love scratching discs... weee!

It is because the Xbox looks hideous on its side, if they would advertise it otherwise no one would buy it

Well dude, there are good disk drives for resisting scratching. Take portable DVD players.

I don't think it's that. I think it's that they weren't going to spend money on HD-DVD drives, so why spend money on a decent DVD drive?

well w/e microsoft are still nOObz to me, when they start getting sued alot maybe they will change it, cause it is kinda false advertising
